I read the second book on my summer reading list, The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. It was a great book. Well written. Held my interest. Renee Michel is a widowed concierge in an apartment building in France. She is highly intelligent and loves movies, art and books, but the tenants of the building are completely unaware of who she really is, and she prefers to keep it that way. Paloma Josse is a very smart 12 year old who studies the various facets of life and who plans to kill herself when she turns 13 unless she finds something to give her a reason to live. Then Kakuro Ozu, a wealthy Japanese businessman, moves into the building and they discover a common bond. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This was dinner this evening. It is based on a salad that my favorite restaurant used to make. Fresh spinach, diced fresh red pepper, mandarin orange segments, pine nuts, and gorgonzola cheese crumbles. I top it with Paul Newman’s oil based Ceasar salad dressing. YUM!
This is the second organic cotton baby sweater I have been working on. Ready to do the bottom edging.
