08-08-08 is considered to be a lucky day, so I thought I would call this post Lucky Day Friday.
Things have been hopping for me lately with the fashionista home and all sorts of things going on. Very little knitting to speak of. Last night I ripped out the 6″ I had knit on an organic cotton baby jacket because I decided I would not have enough yarn to knit the sleeves, too, and for a fall/winter baby, sleeves are just a must.
I have been out of town the past two weekends and I am so far behind in everything that I normally and don’t normally do that it is just not funny.
Last weekend I followed the fashionista around Zona Rosa and The Plaza in Kansas City. We drove up there late on Saturday to take advantage of the tax free shopping weekend. Someone asked me if the cost of gasoline wasn’t more than the amount I saved in taxes — but several stores that she shopped in are stores we don’t have in our fair city, so —
I finished reading Careless in Red by Elizabeth George. I thought it was good, but I know a couple of people who didn’t care for it. Now I am reading Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian. It is very well written, but a gruesome subject matter — WWII.
This weekend I only have a few things to do outside of home and I am really looking forward to it. I have green beans to freeze, zucchini bread to bake, chicken thighs to marinate in olive oil and za’taar, cantaloupe to cut up, wax beans to blanch and serve with mint-infused olive oil, laundry, ironing, cleaning, weeding — the normal dreary tasks. I hope also to get some fun things done — knitting, reading, watch a movie, listen to good music and perhaps dance around after a glass or two of wine. The weekend is full of possibilities!
